Come to discover the most emblematic places of our neighboring country Portugal: Lisbon, Porto, Sanctuary of Fátima, Coimbra and Sintra Monastery.

TRIP TO PORTUGAL, THE COUNTRY OF TILES
Come to discover the most emblematic places of our neighboring country.

Did you know that Portugal has the longest bridge in Europe? And that the oldest bookstore in the world is located in the capital of this country? But without a doubt, if there is something that characterizes our neighboring country par excellence, it is tiles as decorative material, Portugal has been one of the great universal exponents of the art of tilework since the 15th century.

At Happy Erasmus we don't want you to be left without discovering the diversity of landscapes, the cultural and historical heritage and the Portuguese gastronomy. That is why we have prepared this trip to Portugal, where we will visit the most emblematic places such as Lisbon, Porto, the Sanctuary of Fátima, Coimbra and Sintra.

Day 1: Lisbon and the Jerónimos Monastery.

We will arrive in the Portuguese capital in the morning to start discover its culture. In Lisbon we will visit the emblematic Torre de Belem, a 16th century military construction that initially served as a fortress and port, but which over the years has served for many other uses, such as a prison, lighthouse and also as a collection center for taxes.

Near this Tower we can find the Jerónimos Monastery, a monument that represents the golden age of Portuguese explorations. Through the different wings of the Monastery, we can visit the church, the cloister and the National Museum of Archeology.

We will go to the Commerce Square, one of the most important squares in Lisbon and which acts as the nerve center of the capital. That same afternoon, we will continue to get to know this emblematic city with a guided tour of the center of Lisbon.

Day 2: Free time in Lisbon / Sintra, Quinta da Ragaleira and Cabo de Roca (optional excursion)

For the second day we have two options: you can continue enjoying Lisbon on your own as there is a lot to see in this incredible city.

Or as an optional and very attractive plan - go on a trip to Sintra! It is a Portuguese town that for its castles, its gardens, its architecture and its location in a natural park, was declared a World Heritage Site.

In this beautiful city we will visit the mystical Quinta da Ragadeira mansion (entry ticket is included in the excursion price), one of the most captivating places in Sintra.

Also during this excursion we will go to what has been considered the end of the world, Cabo da Roca, located at the westernmost point of Europe, from where we can contemplate the impressive views of the Atlantic Ocean coast.

Day 3: Coimbra, Fátima, the Batalha Monastery and Porto.

On the third day we will start the journey to Porto, but not without making some necessary stops.

The first one will be at the Sanctuary of Fatima, one of the most famous Marian sanctuaries in the world that receives between four and six million pilgrims a year. In this sanctuary we can visit the Basilica of the Rosary, the Chapel of the Apparitions and the Church of the Holy Trinity.

Before arriving in Porto we will pass through what was the country's former capital, Coimbra. This medieval city is a quintessential university destination.

And without realizing it, we will have arrived in Porto for dinner.

Day 4: Porto and return to Valencia

In order to take the most advantage of time in Porto, we will have the option for free time to get to know the city or to visit one of the famous Wine Cellars of Porto and take a boat excursion on the Douro River to contemplate the spectacular bridges that join the two ends of the riverbank (tickets NOT included in the price).

In the afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of the city center where we will visit some of the most emblematic places such as the Cais da Ribera, the Lello bookstore, the Clerigos Tower, the Porto Cathedral, among many others.

And with a belly full of Francesinhas (typical food) and pasteis de Belém (typical sweet), we will head back to Valencia, where we plan to arrive in the morning.
