A small list of some of the main attractions in Valencia.
There are many sightseeing spots in Valencia. It has some of the most beautiful buildings, monuments and spots to visit. We suggest a couple of these amazing places below:
In the centre: Carmen district and it's palaces, Plaza de la Virgen and it's cathedral: La Catedral de Valencia with the Micalet tower, Plaza del Mercado and La Lonja de la Seda, the towers : Las Torres de Serrano and Las torres de Quart, and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento y Ayuntamiento.
City of Arts and Sciences: There is a large group of magnificent buildings located at the mouth of the river Turia. This river is dried out at the moment and repurposed as a cultural spectacle. The city is considered to be the greatest constructional masterpiece of modern architecture. This complex is actually housed by many different spots: El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, which is the Opera House as well as the stage for other theater productions, L'Hemisfèric which is an Imax cinema, planetarium and home to laser theatrical productions, L'Umbracle which is a garden gallery and L'Oceanogràfic which is more than an aquarium, it is an outdoor oceanographic park, and El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe which is the Science Museum. Nowadays, all of these buildings are the main attractions of the city and are gradually becoming the symbol for the city.
*Los Jardines del Turia y sus Puentes (The Turia gardens and bridges): These gardens divide the city into two parts, in the same place that the river Turia once flowed. In Valencia in 1957 there was an extreme flood and it wasn't the first. The waters of the Turia river overflowed, causing widespread destruction of the city and taking hundreds of lives. In Valencia the government decided to move the mouth of the river 3 kilometres south. This sophisticated work was completed in 1973 and the place where the river flowed is now home to the beautiful gardens.






*Parque Natural de Albufera (Natural Park): this is one of the biggest and richest parks of wetland birds that only nest on Mediterranean islands. It has a surface area of more that 1,645 hectars. The park has been under protection since 1988, and nowadays there is a part open to to public, a permanenet expositions and a huge number or viewpoints and marked pathways.
The park wildlife is mainly a variety of birds that live in the meadows, swamps, canals and ponds. For any lover of ornithology this place is a veritable treasure trove of species. It is home to many species of duck, cranes, herons, storks and migratory birds.
It's also the place where Paella was born - the most cherished Spanish dish that's world renowned. In Albufuera there is a huge rice plantation.
* Marina Real y playas de Valencia (The Real Marina and beaches of Valencia): this is the place to relax in Valencia. In the real Marina you can see boats and yachts of all sizes, and if you come to the city with a boat then you already know how to moor. There are three beaches accessible from Valencia, La Malvarrosa is the main beach where all of the students and young people go, especially in front of the dolphin monument. In the Las Arenas beach you will find lots of restaurants, bars and beach bars that are full of life and happines during summer and the first months of autumn. The Patacona beach which is not officially in Valencia but is connected, is the quietest beach where you wil usually find families relaxing with their children. There is also a variety of restaurants here.
