Some advice about student housing in Valencia
There are a lot of students that come to Valencia. Of course, everybody needs a place to stay. Luckily there are many options for you.
Popular places
Typically for an Erasmus student it would be quite common to live near one of the universities in shared apartments. These are places like: Avinguda Blasco Ibañez, Avinguda Ramon Llull, Plaza Honduras etc. We highly recommend these places because it has all the necessities near your home such as groceries, restaurants, cafes and more.
Another common place to stay is in the Benimaclet area. This neighborhood is also close to the university but with cheaper flats. It is also well connected with the city through the tramline.
If you enjoy the beach then the Cabanyal neighborhood is a great option for you.
Like the others, it’s close to the university. With easy access to the beach you can really have a great time with your friends.
We highly recommend these places because it has the most necessities nearby. Keep in mind that living near the university is practical because you have to attend the school very often.

If you are coming to Valencia and you still don't have housing you will need a few days to find something. We reccomend that you stay in one of the city's hostels while you do this. Normally they will require a minuimum 2 night stay and we suggest that you don't delay choosing a flat for more than 4 or 5 days because if you wait longer some of the flats that you saw may already be rented by the time you decide to take them.
*You have to be very careful with some companies, or alleged companies that don't have references or charge you in advance to find you a flat, because there have been many Erasmus students who have had problems over the years... (the room that they rented was not available, the flat was completely different to the photos shown, the beds or furniture was broken etc...)
There are lots of things to consider: many of the estate agents in the city have lots of rooms for students to rent but typically they charge the equivalent to one months rent as commission (a payment for the agency).
The deposit is usually one months rent and is returned to you when you leave the flat. Make sure you read the contracts carefully especially the policy on leaving the flat and how much money you will get back.
